Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about MenuMasters and how it works.
What is MenuMasters?
MenuMasters is a mobile app for iOS and Android that helps you find restaurant meals that match your fitness and macro goals. Whether you are cutting, bulking, or maintaining, the app ranks every item on a restaurant menu with a Match Score from 0 to 100 based on how well it fits your personalized daily calorie and macro targets. It supports over 20 restaurant chains and 10+ dietary modes including keto, vegetarian, and gluten-free.
How does MenuMasters calculate my macro targets?
MenuMasters uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, a well-established formula in sports nutrition, to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). It factors in your age, weight, height, gender, and activity level to determine your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE). Based on your selected goal — cutting, bulking, or maintenance — the app then distributes your daily calories across protein, carbohydrates, and fats using evidence-based macro ratios. You can also manually adjust any of these targets if you prefer a custom split.
How does the Match Score work?
The Match Score is a number from 0 to 100 that rates how well a specific restaurant meal fits your personal macro targets. It evaluates three factors: calorie alignment (how close the meal is to your per-meal calorie budget), protein content (whether it meets your protein target for that meal), and overall macro balance (the ratio of protein, carbs, and fat relative to your goals). A score of 90 or above means the meal is an excellent fit; 70-89 is a good option; below 50 means the meal deviates significantly from your targets.
Which restaurants does MenuMasters support?
MenuMasters currently includes nutritional data for over 20 popular restaurant chains. We source our data from official restaurant-published nutrition information. Our database is actively growing — we add new restaurants regularly based on user requests. If your favorite restaurant is not listed yet, you can request it through the app and we will prioritize adding it.
Is MenuMasters free?
Yes, MenuMasters is free to download and use. The free tier lets you browse restaurants, view meal Match Scores, and get personalized macro targets. A Premium subscription is available for users who want additional features. Premium is priced at $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year, and includes a 7-day free trial so you can try it risk-free.
What diet modes does MenuMasters support?
MenuMasters supports over 10 dietary modes to filter restaurant meals: Keto, Carnivore, High-Protein, Vegetarian, Vegan, Pescatarian, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Halal, and Kosher. You can also track allergens across 8+ categories and filter out specific ingredients. These filters work alongside your macro targets, so the app only recommends meals that satisfy both your nutritional goals and dietary restrictions.
How accurate is the nutritional data?
MenuMasters sources all nutritional data from the official nutrition information published by each restaurant chain. This means the calorie, protein, carb, and fat values match what the restaurants themselves report. However, actual nutritional content can vary by location, serving size, and preparation method. We recommend treating the data as a close estimate rather than an exact measurement — the same way you would treat any restaurant nutrition label.
Can I use MenuMasters for cutting and bulking?
Absolutely. MenuMasters is designed specifically for fitness-oriented diners. When you select Cutting as your goal, the app applies a calorie deficit to your TDEE and prioritizes high-protein, lower-calorie meals. For Bulking, it applies a calorie surplus and highlights calorie-dense meals that still hit your protein targets. For Maintenance, it matches meals to your exact TDEE. You can switch between goals at any time as your fitness plan changes.
Is MenuMasters available on both iOS and Android?
Yes. MenuMasters is available as a free download on both the Apple App Store (for iPhone, iPad, and Mac with Apple Silicon) and the Google Play Store (for Android devices). Both versions include the same features including AI-powered meal matching, personalized macro targets, restaurant browsing, and dietary filtering.
How is MenuMasters different from MyFitnessPal?
MyFitnessPal is a general-purpose calorie and food tracking app where you log what you have already eaten. MenuMasters takes a different approach — it helps you decide what to eat before you order. Instead of tracking your meals after the fact, MenuMasters ranks every item on a restaurant menu by how well it matches your macro targets, so you walk into the restaurant already knowing what to order. Think of MyFitnessPal as a food diary and MenuMasters as a restaurant meal advisor.
